2002-01-25 DISCUSSION: Who Had Problems with Model Trading?
The Igor-Ray Young topic inspired me to ask this question: I am wondering who had problems while trading/buying/selling models? If you did, who was the person/organization you had this problem with? I would like to avoid all complaints on models broken during shipping as this will flood this board with similar messages (it is interesting though to hear the opinions on which manufacturer>s models survive shipping better and vise versa). It would be interesting to hear from both sides.

I can tell that I had several unsuccessful deals:

  • several minor swap deals when the scale of the models was stated wrong prior to exchange. It has happened to me twice with an Italian fellow, a couple of time with Americans and once big time with a Russian guy. I don>t consider it a major problem, it probably affects me more that the others as I collect ONLY 1:43 scale.

  • one deal with a French company was never finished when in return for my models I was supposed to get some of the Replex and Solido models. I got the first package from them just fine but then the communication on their part was dropped and the balance is still some $450.

  • a major deal went south when one of my Ukrainian suppliers after two years of successfull trading refused to return me $2200 or models he has promised to get me for that money

Hope to hear your comments and opinions,
